Batman V Superman Hits Box Office With Worldwide Debut Of $424 Mln

(RTTNews) - Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice had a massive debut on Easter weekend with a whopping $424 million worldwide debut. In U.S., it hit the box office with a projected collection of $170 million. Star Wars: The Force Awakens that collected $529 million, Jurassic World with a gross of $524 million and Harry Potter 7.2 with $484 million are the few other mega blockbuster movies earned more than Batman V Superman in the first week.

The Warner Bros. movie directed by Zack Snyder is based on well known heroic characters of DC Comics. The movie starring Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman was premiered in Mexico city on March 19. It was released for U.S. moviegoers on March 25, and simultaneously in China, Japan, and other International locations. In China, the movie collected a record $57.3 million from 16 thousand screens, in U.K. $21.9 million and in Mexico $21.9 million.

The blockbuster movie had a production budget of $250 million and marketing budget of $160 million. It is projected to earn more than $1 billion from worldwide theaters. It has received mixed reviews from all around the world and has earned praise for its visual appeal, emotional story telling as well as action.
