Banco Santander H1 Pretax Profit Decreases - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Banco Santander (BNC.L, SAN) reported first-half profit before tax of 3.72 billion euros, down 23.6 percent from a year ago. Attributable ordinary profit to the Group decreased to 2.26 billion euros, from 3.05 billion euros, last year. Earnings per share was 0.21 euros, compared to 0.32 euros prior year.

Profit from continuing operations rose to 2.82 billion euros, from 2.16 billion euros prior year. Attributable profit for the period was 2.26 billion euros, compared to 1.75 billion euros, last year. Earnings per share was 0.21 euros, compared to 0.18 euros, prior year. Net interest income decreased to 13.37 billion euros, from 15.39 billion euros, lat year. Gross income was 20.61 billion euros, down 8.0 percent from prior year. Gross income decreased 4% excluding the impact of the fall in value of the Brazilian real, the pound and the dollar.
