Baker Coastal Services Team Awarded Port of Gulfport Restoration Contract

Michael Baker Jr., Inc., an engineering unit of Michael Baker Corporation (NYSE Amex:BKR), announced today that it has been awarded a five-year, Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract by the Mississippi State Port Authority at Gulfport to provide coastal engineering design and other services in support of the $570 million Port of Gulfport Restoration Program, an extensive effort to restore and rebuild the Port of Gulfport following its destruction during Hurricane Katrina.

Baker will serve as prime contractor for the team that will provide field data collection and numerical modeling of waves, water levels, sediment transport, circulation and water quality. Analysis will support development of the Environmental Impact Statement, project permitting, operational layout of the Port, and structural design of the Port facilities. The Baker team includes the following highly regarded marine/coastal engineering subcontractors: Ben C. Gerwick, Inc.; Computational Hydraulics and Transport from Edwards, Mississippi; DIMCO, Inc., from Corinth, Mississippi; and Ocean Data Technologies, Inc., from Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
