Aspect Imaging's FlowScan™ Real-Time Non-Invasive Rheology Platform featured at 84th Annual Society of Rheology Conference
Results from revolutionary in-line rheology platform shows utility in food production, oil and gas, personal care and fuel and chemical applications
MONTREAL, Oct. 16, 2013 /CNW/ - Aspect Imaging, the world leading developer of compact high-performance MRI systems, is featuring its FlowScan™ Real-Time Non-Invasive Rheology Platform at the 84th Annual Society of Rheology Conference in Montreal, Quebec in the commercial exhibits and as part of the scientific sessions. The Society of Rheology Conference is being held October 13 - 17, 2013 in Montreal, Quebec.
"We are excited to have our FlowScan real-time rheology platform profiled at the Society of Rheology conference, both at the exhibit floor and also in two leading papers being presented at the scientific sessions ", says Uri Rapoport, Aspect Imaging's Founder and CEO. "Our FlowScan is a real revolution in instrumentation for the rheology field because we enable real-time results non-invasively and we can do so in-line. This means that the FlowScan can be placed in a production line and the flowing product of interest simply flows through our system without perturbation allowing production chemists and specialists to immediately visualize and quantify deviations in product consistency, quality and composition. This is in stark contrast to conventional rheological instrumentation that requires samples of fluids be extracted from a production line or batch and placed in measurement devices where results can take many minutes to generate, the instruments have moving parts that require cleaning and maintenance and the analysis is done in an environment that is not exactly like that of the production line."
Studies showing the quality and consistency of results derived from the FlowScan, in addition to the presentation of a variety of other benefits, are featured in two scientific presentations at the conference:
- "Inline rheology measurement of foods, personal care products and oilfield fluids using a non-invasive rheometer" (Paper EM2) by Dr. Michael J. McCarthy from the Faculty of Food Science and Technology at University of California, Davis along with co-authorEmilio J. Tozzi (presenter), and
- "Real-time monitoring of rheology in a fed-batch recycle reactor using a non-invasive rheometer" (Paper BM14) by Dr. Michael J. McCarthy from the Faculty of Food Science and Technology at University of California, Davis along with co-authorsEmilio J. Tozzi (presenter), Maria J. Cardona, and Robert L. Powell
The FlowScan real-time non-invasive rheology platform will be on display in Aspect Imaging's booth #15 & 16 in the Exhibit Hall at the Hilton Bonaventure Conference Center in Montreal, Quebec from October 13 - 16, 2013.
About Aspect Imaging:
Aspect Imaging(www.aspectimaging.com)is the world's leader in the design and development of high-performance compact MR imaging and NMR systems for pre-clinical, clinical and advanced industrial applications. In the clinical market, Aspect Imaging has multiple clinical programs underway including its system to provide highly efficient just-in-place compact MRI for imaging of the wrist. The system allows clinicians to harness the power and insights of MRI but without the cost, complexity and technical burden of traditional MRI systems. In the pre-clinical research market, the M-series of compact MRI systems, including the M3 and M10 systems enable a wide variety of in vivo applications and research models. Aspect also supplies its M2™ magnet, gradients and handling systems to Bruker for use in its leading ICON™ compact MRI platform. Due to its high-performance M2 permanent magnet and suite of related products, the ICON enables academic researchers and pharmaceutical companies to harness the power and insights of MRI but without the cost, complexity and technical burden of traditional MRI systems. Pre-clinically, Aspect's M2 system is also used for providing 3D MR-based Histology to complement and direct pathology and histology-based analysis, as well as providing the M2 platform to Mediso Medical Systems for use in its nanoScan® integrated PET/MRI and SPECT/MRI systems. Aspect Imaging's novel permanent magnets are also used in advanced industrial applications including rheology where its FlowScan™ platform can operate in-line, on-line or near-line on large-scale production lines for food processing, consumer products, oil and gas, biofuels and other applications providing real-time, non-invasive and quantitative read-outs for process and quality control.
