Ashland Inc. Reveals 5% Gain In Q4 Bottom Line

(RTTNews) - Ashland Inc. (ASH) revealed earnings for its fourth quarter that increased from last year.

The company said its bottom line climbed to $110 million, or $1.62 per share. This was up from $105 million, or $1.42 per share, in last year's fourth quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.50 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter fell 16.9% to $1.28 billion. This was down from $1.54 billion last year.
