(RTTNews) - Aon plc (AON) Friday reported fourth-quarter net income attributable to shareholders of $459 million or $1.56 per share, up from $355 million or $1.44 per share in the comparable quarter last year.

Adjusted earnings were $566 million or $1.89 per share, compared with $485 million or $1.54 per share a year earlier. On average, twenty-four analysts polled by Thomson-Reuters estimated earnings to be $1.86. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.

Revenues rose 3 percent to $3.30 billion, from $3.21 billion last year, driven primarily by 6% organic revenue growth, partially offset by a 3% unfavorable impact from foreign currency translation. Seventeen analysts had a consensus revenue estimate of $3.35 billion.
