American Woodmark Q2 Profit Up, But Misses Estimates - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - American Woodmark Corp. (AMWD), a maker of kitchen cabinets and vanities, Tuesday reported a rise in earnings for the second quarter, as sales improved 14 percent year-over-year.

Net income rose to $7.7 million or $0.48 per share from $5.3 million or $0.34 per share last year. On average, five analysts polled by Thomson-Reuters estimated the company's earnings per share to be $0.50 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.

Quarterly sales increased to $217.7 million from $190.5 million a year ago, with new construction growth exceeding 20 percent. Analysts estimated sales of $213.89 million.
