American Railcar Profit Rises

(RTTNews) - American Railcar Industries Inc (ARII) Wednesday reported first-quarter net earnings of $21 million or $0.97 per share compared with $18 million or $0.84 per share last year. Results were helped by improved margins.

Revenues for the quarter were $182 million compared with $195 million in the prior year, and excludes $64 million of estimated revenues related to railcars built for the company's lease fleet.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $1.13 per share on revenues of $203.2 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
