American Electric Power Q1 Profit Rises; Backs 2015 Outlook - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - American Electric Power (AEP) reported that first-quarter net earnings grew to $629 million or $1.29 per share from $560 million or $1.15 per share in prior-year quarter.

Operating earnings for the quarter was $625 million or $1.28 per share, compared to $560 million or $1.15 per share last year. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $1.10 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenue for the quarter grew to $4.7 billion from $4.6 billion in the same quarter last year. Wall Street expected revenues of $4.63 billion.

Looking ahead, the company reaffirmed its 2015 operating earnings guidance in a range of $3.40 to $3.60 per share. Analysts expect annual earnings of $3.51 per share.
