Ameren Corp. Q3 Profit Sinks - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Ameren Corp. (AEE), Thursday posted a lower third-quarter profit, with decrease in revenues. The company added that cooler-than-normal weather also had a negative impact on the quarterly earnings.

Including discontinued operations, the company reported net income of $302 million, compared with $374 million last year. On a per share basis, earnings were $1.24 per share, compared with $1.54 per share last year.

On average, eight analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings per share of $1.24 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.

Total operating revenues were $1.63 billion, compared with $1.70 billion last year. Analysts expected the company to generate revenues of $1.87 billion for the quarter.

Looking forward, the company now expects 2013 earnings from continuing operations to be in a range of $2 to $2.10 per share, compared with previously anticipated range of $2 to $2.15 per share. Analysts expect the company to report earnings of $2.07 per share for the year.
