Akers Biosciences Appoints Medical Technology Specialist John Gormally As CEO

(RTTNews) - Medical device company Akers Biosciences, Inc. (AKER, AKR.L) announced Monday the appointment of John Gormally as Chief Executive Officer. Gormally is being appointed as an officer of the Company but will not sit on the board of directors.

He worked over 30 years with the global medical technology company Becton Dickinson, the most recent position being the Vice President, US Region Business Leader of Preanalytical Systems. Prior to this role, he was Vice President, Worldwide Sales of Preanalytical Systems.

Gormally first joined Becton Dickinson in 1979, and left the firm in 1999, to pursue an opportunity with Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. He later joined BEI Medical Systems, a medical device start up, which was sold two years later, in 2003, to Boston Scientific. Following the sale, John was recruited back to Beckton Dickinson.
