After-market Movers For April 27 (AAPL, MRK, AVB, RTEC, RCII, TCS, AMKR, OLN)
(RTTNews) - Gainers:
Apple Inc. (AAPL) gained 1 percent to $134.38 as its second quarter results topped Wall Street expectations. iPhone sales during the quarter improved 40 percent from the year-ago quarter, but declined 18 percent on a sequential basis. The company guided third quarter revenue in-line with analysts' estimate. Apple increased its share repurchase authorization to $140 billion and also approved an increase of 11 percent to its quarterly dividend.
Merck & Co. Inc. (MRK) rose over 3 percent to $59.25 based on the news that the trial evaluating cardiovascular outcomes with Sitagliptin of DPP-4 inhibitor, JANUVIA (sitagliptin), achieved its primary endpoint of non-inferiority for the composite cardiovascular endpoint.
Avalonbay Communities Inc. (AVB) was up 5 percent to $180.82. The company's first quarter earnings and revenue were above Wall Street view.
Rudolph Technologies Inc. (RTEC) surged 12 percent to $13.55. The company swung to a profit in its first quarter, while its non-GAAP earnings per share and revenues topped Street view.
Rent-A-Center, Inc. (RCII) gained 8 percent to $29.34 after its first quarter results were ablove analysts' expectations.
Decliners:
The Container Store Group, Inc. (TCS) plunged 24 percent to $16.35. The company's fourth quarter adjusted earnings per share and revenues were below market view as its results were hurt by inclement winter weather and foreign exchange headwinds. The company forecast a loss for its first quarter and also guided fiscal 2015 results below Street view.
Amkor Technology, Inc. (AMKR) was down 10 percent to $7.14 as it forecast second quarter results below Street view. Meanwhile, the company's first quarter results were above market view.
Olin Corp. (OLN) declined 9 percent to $27.95 as its first quarter earnings and sales plunged from the year-ago quarter and missed Street view.
