ACE Announces New Accident and Health Insurance Manager for Iberia

ACE Group today announced the appointment of Iñigo de Górgolas as Manager, Accident and Health for Iberia, as it continues to strengthen its leadership team in Madrid, a key hub for its regional Accident and Health (A&H) business in Europe.

In this role, Iñigo will be responsible for the performance, strategy and future growth of ACE’s extensive A&H business in Spain and Portugal, including its direct marketing operation, its corporate and affinity business, and its travel portfolio. He will report to Véronique Brionne, who was appointed Country President for ACE in Iberia at the beginning of 2014 and to Pat Drinan, Regional Senior Vice President, A&H in EMEA.

Iñigo joins ACE with 28 years of financial services industry experience gained at several banks and other companies. Most recently, he was Country Manager for Spain at Assurant Solutions, a provider of specialist insurance and related services in North America and select markets around the world. In this role, he managed the successful launch of the company’s insurance businesses in Spain and was a member of the company’s European management team and of its risk, business development, and operations boards. Prior to this, Iñigo held general management, distribution and business development roles at Bank of America and, previously, Banco Santander and its predecessor companies.

Iñigo’s appointment is effective [15 September] and follows the promotion of Jose Luiz Gomez Banovio, previously Manager of ACE’s A&H business in Southern Europe, to the role of Regional Head of Travel for EMEA. Jose Luis will continue to be based in Madrid and work closely with ACE’s network of A&H colleagues throughout EMEA to manage performance and strategy of its important travel segment across the region.

Véronique Brionne, Country President, Iberia at ACE said:

"Given the importance of Spain and Portugal’s accident and health markets to ACE, it was important to find an experienced leader to take our extensive direct marketing, corporate and affinity and travel business forwards. I am delighted to welcome Iñigo to ACE. His breadth of financial services expertise, including in building strategic partnerships, business development and customer relationship management, complements well the skills and expertise of our management team. It also equips us perfectly to drive our plans for targeted growth in a way that responds to customer needs as economic recovery takes hold.”

Patrick Drinan, Regional Senior Vice President, Accident and Health, EMEA, at ACE, said:

"Iberia, where we have some 40 years of experience under the ACE brand and our predecessor companies, is one of the key hubs of our accident and health business in Europe and represents one of our largest direct marketing operations in the region. Iñigo will be instrumental in leading the continued development of the strong propositions that we enjoy both as ACE and through our alliances with select strategic partners, further underlining the importance of Madrid as a centre of excellence for our A&H business.”
