21st Century Fox Negotiates Exit Of Fox News CEO Roger Ailes
(RTTNews) - 21st Century Fox (FOXA, FOX) is negotiating the exit of Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes following a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by a former network anchor, according to reports citing people familiar with the matter.
Fox was discussing an exit package with Ailes's legal team as of Tuesday, and reaching agreement could take some time. He will likely be asked to assist with the transition, given how integral he is to the running of the network, the reports said.
In a tweet, 21st Century Fox said, "Roger is at work. The review is ongoing. The only agreement that is in place is his existing employment agreement."
Earlier this month, Gretchen Carlson, a former Fox News Channel host, filed a sexual harassment case against Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes.
In the complaint, Carlson, popular for co-hosting "Fox & Friends" until 2013, alleged Ailes of sabotaging her career because she refused his "sexual advances."
According to Carlson, Ailes retaliated against her in various way, including by terminating her employment on June 23, 2016, and "ostracizing" "marginalizing" and "shunning" her for not having sexual relationship with him.
Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes then responded to the lawsuit by calling the allegations "false" and "offensive."
