Cardtronics, Inc. -- Moody's says Square's entry into P2P payments market is credit negative for Cardtronics in the longer term; No rating impact
New York, October 21, 2013 -- Moody's Investors Service said that the introduction of a new peer-to-peer (P2P) payments service by Square, Inc. is credit negative for Cardtronics, Inc. (Ba2 Stable) in the longer term. There is a risk that rapid growth of P2P money transfer services such as Square's new service could reduce consumers' need to withdraw cash from ATMs and accelerate the shift away from paper-based currency.
