Alpek, S.A.B. de C.V. -- Moody's: Alpek's acquisition of BASF's expandable polystyrene business is credit positive for Alpek

Mexico, July 10, 2014 -- Moody's said today that Alpek S.A.B. de C.V.'s (Alpek) announcement to acquire BASF Corporation's expandable polystyrene business activities in North and South America is credit positive for Alpek (Baa3 stable) as it expands its existing expandable polystyrene business, increases its installed capacity, and positions the company with a leading market share in South America. We do not anticipate any pressure on the Baa3 senior unsecured rating or stable outlook of Alpek as a result of this transaction given the modest expected impact on its credit metrics.
