New Acetabular Shell Option With Screw Fixation Brings The Confidence and Stability of Wright's BFH(TM) Technology To Revision Hip Surgery

    Wright Medical Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: WMGI), a global orthopaedic medical device company, today announced the launch of its SUPER-FIX(TM) Acetabular System, featuring a shell designed for superior implant fixation and stability for revision hip surgery. Part of the CONSERVE(R) family of hip products, the SUPER-FIX(TM) system is coupled with the larger femoral heads of Wright's BFH(TM) Technology, which can also offer significant protection against the risk of dislocation in the revised total hip.
    Because patients undergoing revision surgery often have compromised acetabular bone stock, implant fixation and stability can be a challenge. Wright's SUPER-FIX(TM) Acetabular System addresses these issues through screw fixation with holes placed superiorly and securing fins positioned inferiorly. These combined features maintain the abduction angle of the shell during screw installation for a solid fit within the acetabulum. Additionally, the head center of the shell is positioned lower to compensate for deficient bone in the superior region, where most bone loss occurs. To reduce the risk of dislocation - which can be as high as 20% following revision surgery - the SUPER-FIX(TM) shell is paired with Wright's BFH(TM) Technology featuring a femoral head size that more closely matches the natural anatomy and provides greater range of motion.
