Univision Radio Names Jorge A. Plasencia Vice President/Operating Manager, AM Stations/RadioCadena Univision
"Over the years Jorge has made tremendous contributions to thesuccess of Univision Radio and I am confident that he will do aterrific job in this new role," stated Gary Stone, President & COO ofUnivision Radio. Before joining Univision Radio's predecessor (HispanicBroadcasting Corporation) as Vice President, Marketing, CorporateCommunications and Public Affairs in 2001, Plasencia spent five yearsas Vice President of Estefan Enterprises, Inc. Prior to that he wasDirector of Hispanic Marketing for the Florida Marlins Baseball Club.Plasencia also held various management positions within theSpanish-language radio industry in South Florida where he worked forWAQI(AM), WRTO(FM) and WQBA(AM/FM).
Plasencia graduated with honors from Barry University. In 1991, heco-founded Amigos For Kids, a non-profit organization that assistsabused and underprivileged children in Miami. In 2004, Plasencia wasappointed by President George W. Bush to serve as an advisory boardmember to the Broadcasting Board of Governors' Office of CubaBroadcasting. He also serves on the board of directors of theCongressional Hispanic Leadership Institute at Barry University andthe Gloria Estefan Foundation.
