The iPhone Developer's Cookbook, By Erica Sadun, Connects With Mac Programmers

The iPhone Developer's Cookbook: Building Applications with the iPhone SDK, by Erica Sadun, was Pearson Technology Group’s (PTG) best-selling eBook for 2008, and the print version continues to appear in the top listings of Amazon.com’s Computer & Internet and Professional & Technical categories.

The book is also the top-selling electronic title through InformIT, the online home for Pearson’s information technology publishers.

The iPhone Developer's Cookbook provides readers with the skills they need to build applications for the iPhone by presenting them with single-task recipes and clear, fully documented examples, rather than exhaustive documentation. The book focuses on the most common issues new iPhone developers face, including laying out windows, responding to user interactions, accessing local data sources, and creating visual and audio notifications. This focused one-solution source code delivers cut and paste convenience. Programmers add source recipes into their own applications and then customize it to their needs.

Other best-selling PTG Mac Programming titles include Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X by Aaron Hillegass, the #1 best-selling book on the Cocoa Programming Language and the best selling Cocoa book of all time, according to Nielsen Bookscan. Programming in Objective-C 2.0 by Stephen Kochan is currently the #1 selling title on the subject, and has been in the Nielsen Bookscan computer Top 50 since its January release.

"Programming for the Macintosh operating system, and especially for the iPhone, is one of the most exciting, fastest growing, topics in technology. We meet incredibly talented developers nearly every day, who really enjoy sharing their knowledge, skills, and secrets with other developers,” said Paul Boger, Publisher, Pearson Technology Group. "Pearson is committed to helping our authors share their expertise, whether in print books, in eBooks, or in training. This is a wildly creative community, and we’re really happy to be a part of it.”
