The International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition and Danish Consulate General, Shanghai Sign Memorandum of Understanding on Intellectual Property Protection

WASHINGTON, Dec. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Today the International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition (IACC) and the Danish Consulate General, Shanghai signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will enhance Danish companies' brand protection efforts in China.

The MOU, which was signed in Copenhagen, commits the organizations to share information and best practices on intellectual property protection, with a focus on identifying and fighting online counterfeiting. The IACC, through its expertise in enforcement and its globally recognized anti-counterfeiting programs, will also act as a resource for Danish Companies looking to strengthen its intellectual property strategies. Specifically, the IACC and the Consulate are working together by offering the IACC MarketSafe Expansion Program to Danish companies. The initiative is a free anti-counterfeiting program that support rights-holders' IP enforcement efforts on Alibaba's platform.

"This partnership reflects our mutual commitment to protecting Danish companies' intellectual property from counterfeiters," said Bob Barchiesi, IACC President. "We look forward to working with the Danish Consulate in ensuring that Danish businesses have the tools and information necessary to do business effectively online and abroad."

"The General Consulate is very committed in our endeavors to facilitate and enhance the presence of Danish brands on some of the major online platforms in China," said Nicolai Prytz, Consul General of Denmark in Shanghai. "However, this needs to go hand in hand with protection of their intellectual property rights, and we truly feel the MarketSafe Expansion Program effectively can contribute to this. There is little doubt that this can add considerable value to Danish brands, and we look forward to the continued cooperation with the IACC on this."

The IACC cooperates with organizations around the world to seek innovative and effective ways to address the counterfeiting problem. In addition to the Danish Consulate General, the IACC partners with intermediaries, law enforcement agencies, and other government agencies.

This collaborative approach aims to combine the IACC's strength, expertise and resources with those of its partners to advance the fight against counterfeiting. The IACC continues to fulfill its mission by enhancing existing and developing new partnerships and programs to protect brands and consumers.

The MOU was signed by IACC President Bob Barchiesi and Nicolai Prytz, Consul General of Denmark in Shanghai.
