Ifolor AG Inks First Order for Multiple Xerox iGen4(TM) Digital Color Presses
Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) today announced that Ifolor AG, a photo
and print lab based in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland, has agreed to purchase
multiple Xerox
iGen4 Presses. The deal was struck at drupa, the world’s
largest print trade show, in Düsseldorf,
Germany. It caps a very successful event for Xerox, which sold more than
300 digital
systems and software.
In addition to the iGen4 Presses, Ifolor also upgraded three of its
existing iGen3®
Digital Production Presses with Xerox’s
new Automated Color Quality Suite Press Matching System. The sale marks
one of the world’s largest orders to date for
Xerox iGen systems.
Ifolor AG specializes in the digital production of photos, posters,
photo books, greetings cards and calendars and delivers these specialty
products to customers in Switzerland, Germany, Norway, Sweden and
Finland. The company will be one of the first print providers in the
world to use the new Xerox iGen4 Presses.
"Demand for high-quality photo
applications has rapidly increased, and in this space, there’s
one aspect of production that is non-negotiable –
quality,” said Markus Wirth, managing
director, Ifolor AG. "The iGen4 had what we
needed – the best digital print quality in
the industry combined with an overall increase in productivity. Although
competitive products are good, Xerox’s are
simply better.”
The productivity of digital presses – the
amount of "uptime" print providers have on their systems to produce
pages for their clients – is a key factor to
increasing print revenue. The iGen4 increases productivity by 25 to 35
percent by automating operator tasks, reducing the need to interrupt the
press for adjustments and decreasing overall operating costs. As a
result, the iGen4 improves the break-even point between digital and
traditional offset printing, making it faster and more economical to
print jobs on digital.
Xerox iGen3 presses with the Automated Color Quality Suite experience
improved overall performance, increase in productivity and image quality
that matches offset printing. The enhanced systems will complement Ifolor’s
existing Xerox iGen3 presses that are the backbone of its production
operations.
"The specialty photo printing industry
requires leading-edge presses,” said Quincy
Allen, president, Xerox Production Systems Group. "Ifolor
has a reputation for delivering the highest image quality in the
European photo market and will build on its history of quality and
innovation by adding these new Xerox digital color production presses.”
At drupa 2008, Xerox introduced a dozen
new technologies, workflow and business development resources that
push the boundaries of digital printing. In addition to the Xerox iGen4
Press, the top-selling products included the new Xerox
700 Digital Color Press, the recently launched DocuColor®
5000AP Digital Press and the company’s
portfolio of continuous
feed devices.
