Honeywell and Rockwell Collins to Offer Integrated Guided Weapons Technologies; New Entity Will Be Known as Integrated Guidance Systems LLC; MEMS and GPS to Guide Advanced Precision Weapons

Rockwell Collins (NYSE:COL) and Honeywell (NYSE:HON)today announced the formation of a limited liability company that willoffer customers a new series of integrated precision guidancesolutions for precision guided weapons.

The new entity, Integrated Guidance Systems LLC, is a HoneywellInternational/Rockwell Collins 50/50 joint venture. While offering anew integrated series of guidance products, both Honeywell andRockwell Collins will continue to offer their existing MicroElectronic Mechanical Systems (MEMS) and Global Positioning System(GPS) products that are used on current precision weapons.

Integrated Guidance Systems LLC combines the strengths of twodefense industry leaders. The LLC will provide deeply integratedguidance and navigation solutions, enabling its customers to meet newand emerging enhanced performance requirements.

"Rockwell Collins' GPS receivers and Honeywell's MEMS InertialMeasurement Units (IMUs) are complementary technologies that willdeliver very small, low-cost, highly precise guided weapons systems,"said Ron Hornish, Vice President and General Manager of Sensor Systemsfor Rockwell Collins. "Each company is applying research anddevelopment efforts to integrate these two technologies in order toproduce a superior total solution."

New guidance offerings will be made possible through thecombination of Rockwell Collins' military GPS receiver technology andHoneywell's MEMS IMU and navigation processing technologies using anadvanced coupling process called Deep Integration that increasesnavigation accuracy in GPS jammed or denied environments.

This will also yield increased reliability compared withcurrent offerings in today's demanding tactical environments."

The LLC combines intellectual property of the two companies tocreate best-value solutions for its customers. It builds on the DeeplyIntegrated Guidance and Navigation Unit (DI-GNU) development and solidtrack record of successful guided flight tests.
