Dell Extends Optimized Deployment Services Through Dell KACE and Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) Customers
Dell today announced it is providing customers with more choice in how they migrate to and deploy their PC environments. Organizations deploying laptops, desktops and associated operating systems can now use Dell Optimized Deployment services to build upon the advantages provided by Dell KACE and Microsoft SCCM/MDT (Microsoft Deployment Toolkit).
Images created though the Dell KACE K2000 Appliance and SCCM are not tied to a specific system, enabling customers to easily transition from HP, Lenovo or Acer to Dell if they so desire. The K2000 Deployment Appliance streamlines image creation and maintenance by eliminating manual steps from the deployment process.
The Optimized Deployment services leverage Dell’s patented approach and technology to reduce the amount of technician labor and complex logistics required for PC and OS deployments, including Windows 7 migrations. Because Dell integrates OS imaging and configuration, application installation, and user data and settings migration into a single automated process, end-users are up and running quickly with little to no downtime or follow-on support required.
The automated process reduces the amount of time technicians spend at the end-user device to just a few minutes. Traditional deployment models often require technicians to spend a significant amount of time at each client device, having to work through a series of complex configuration steps. Dell Optimized Deployment services can save customers up to 55 percent on IT deployment costs while also helping to minimize end-user disruption.1
For customers who do not need a full, end-to-end deployment service but want more than a simple installation, Dell provides a fixed-scope service to which an administrator can add any combination of the following:
- Data Migration
- Asset Tagging
- Image Load
- Application Load
- Asset Resale and Recycling Service
Offloading these manual, labor-intensive activities to Dell enables organizations to re-focus and re-allocate their resources to more critical business functions.
Quotes:
"Employee productivity is directly influenced by the tools provided by
IT, which is why it’s so important that systems are deployed quickly and
without incident. Dell Optimized Deployment helps ensure seamless system
and software migration. We’ve created an advantage for our customers by
reducing deployment times to mere minutes, giving time back to IT staff
and boosting end-user productivity."
--Jan Uhrich, vice
president, Services and Solutions Group, Dell
"In deploying new PCs, organizations face technical challenges as well
as significant costs, many of which are not readily apparent. By
enabling companies to upgrade to Windows 7 or other Microsoft operating
systems with less technician time invested and lower costs overall, this
Dell solution helps improve the chances of a successful deployment and
ensures that companies make the most of their scarce resources while
adopting a new operating system."

director, Software and Services, IDC
