Citrix EasyCall Scores Big with Cisco IP Telecommunications Users Group (CIPTUG)
Citrix Systems, Inc., (NASDAQ:CTXS) the global leader in application
delivery infrastructure, today announced that the Cisco IP
Telecommunications Users Group (CIPTUG) has named Citrix EasyCall™
a recipient of two Application Bake-Off awards at the CIPTUG Annual
Conference, including Best Application Suite and Best Finance
Application. The new EasyCall technology improves worker productivity
and saves phone costs by making communications capabilities like
click-to-call available from any enterprise application with no changes
to existing phone systems or applications. The Application Bake-Off is
an application development competition that provides a unique
opportunity for attendees to participate in live demos and provide
direct, valuable feedback to application developers on new or
not-yet-released applications.
"We are honored to be recognized by the Cisco
IP Telecommunications Users Group, as it further validates our ability
to provide our customers with intuitive, integrated communication
solutions,” said Barry Phillips, group vice
president and general manager, Advanced Solutions Group, Citrix Systems. "Adding
the EasyCall feature to application delivery solutions like Citrix
NetScaler and Citrix Presentation Server makes it easy for users to
integrate communication capabilities into the applications used by
employees on an everyday basis. Users now have the ability to initiate
live conversations with people as an intuitive extension of their
application experience, saving time and money in the process.”
Citrix EasyCall, announced as a standard feature in the Platinum
Editions of Citrix® NetScaler®
for web applications and Citrix Presentation Server™
for Windows applications on October 22 (see press release here)
is a new technology that provides the simplest and most intuitive way of
integrating communications into any application as a core property of a
company’s existing application delivery
infrastructure. Communication-enabling applications with EasyCall allows
users to initiate instant click-to-call capabilities from any telephone
number within any application using their company’s
existing corporate phone system. In addition to increasing worker
productivity, this can result in significant savings for mobile workers
since calls initiated by EasyCall are billed at their employer’s
lower corporate rate rather than through significantly higher cell or
home office rates.
EasyCall includes a simple, click-to-call enabled corporate directory
that automatically synchronizes with an organization’s
main directory, as well as a call log that provides a simple way to
redial commonly used numbers. It also includes an XML web service, based
on SOA (service-oriented architecture) that can be embedded directly
into any web application or website to create a "Call
Now” button for users. This approach is ideal
for external facing vendor support or e-commerce sites, making it easy
for customers to contact corporate call centers while also reducing the
toll-free charges of those call centers.
"As an IP telecommunications users
organization we are constantly looking for innovative communications
tools, that are simple and intuitive," said Michael Kok, president,
CIPTUG. "Citrix EasyCall provides advanced
communication capabilities, without requiring users to learn entirely
new applications or incurring costly isolated software integration –
a huge benefit for customers.”
Made up of over 1200 members, representing more than 600 different Cisco
