Hungary Retails Sales Growth Improves In December
(RTTNews) - Hungary's retail sales growth accelerated at a slightly slower-than-expected pace in December, preliminary figures from the Hungarian Central Statistical Office showed Wednesday.
Retail sales climbed a calender adjusted 5.6 percent year-on-year in December, faster than November's 5.1 percent increase. Economists had forecast a 5.7 percent growth for the month.
The latest rate of growth was the highest since April, when sales rose 6.3 percent.
Retail sales of automotive fuel alone surged 10.7 percent annually in December and that of non-food products sales increased by 7.6 percent.
On an unadjusted basis, retail sales expanded 6.2 percent yearly in December, after a 5.1 percent rise seen in the previous month.
In the whole year 2014, total retail sales grew a calender adjusted 5.2 percent as compared to 2013.
