Warner Bros. Vs. Warner Bros.: Company Accuses Itself Of Copyright Infringement
(RTTNews) - Warner Bros. recently send Google a list of sites that allegedly infringed copyright on its movies like Dark Knight and Matrix. The movie studio demanded the search engine to remove links to dozens of websites, however, Warner asked mistakenly added several of its own pages in the list.
The cease and desist letters reveal the studio requested to take down its official pages of The Dark Knight and The Matrix films under the terms of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). The studio also wanted legitimate links of Amazon, Sky, and IMDb to be also taken down for allegedly breaking copyright law.
"Warner is inadvertently trying to make it harder for the public to find links to legitimate content, which runs counter to their intentions," said TorrentFreak, which first spotted the news.
Google spotted the error in requests to remove the Amazon, Sky, and IMDb links and decided not to take any action. However, the Warnerbros.com URLs are still under investigation.
