TSX Inches Higher In Thin Trade -- Canadian Commentary

(RTTNews) - Canadian stocks edged higher Monday despite lower oil prices.

The TSX Composite Index was up 26.98 points to 15,604.79.

Bombardier (BBD.B.TO) Q400 turbo and Challenger business jets were involved in deadly crashes over the past few days. 49 people were killed in Nepal and 11 died in Iran. Shares were down 1 percent.

Air Canada (AC.TO) computer systems were down temporarily today causing delays. Shares were up fractionally.

Apple Inc. said it is acquiring Texture, a digital magazine service from a group including Rogers Communications (RCI.B.TO).

In Friday's economic news, Canadian employment was little changed in February (+15,000). The unemployment rate declined by 0.1 percentage points to 5.8%.
