TravelCenters Q3 Profit Declines, Misses Estimates - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - TravelCenters of America LLC (TA), an operator of fuel service areas, Monday reported lower profit for the third quarter, hurt by higher income tax expenses. Earnings missed analysts' view. Total revenues remained nearly flat year-over-year, while fuel revenues declined. Net income declined to $12.8 million or $0.34 per share from $15.8 million or $0.53 per share last year. Analysts polled by Thomson-Reuters were looking for earnings of $0.46. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items. Total revenues were $2.009 billion compared with $2.062 billion a year ago. Fuel revenues decreased to $1.575 billion from $1.667 billion last year. Analysts were looking for revenues of $2.14 billion. The company recorded income tax expense of $9.44 million, much higher than $1.07 million incurred last year.
