The Swiss Helvetia Fund, Inc. Announces Director Replacement
NEW YORK, July 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Swiss Helvetia Fund, Inc. (NYSE: SWZ), a non-diversified registered closed-end investment company, announced today that Mr. Jay S. Calhoun has resigned from the Board of Directors. The Board has approved the appointment of Mr. Richard Dayan to fill Mr. Calhoun's position as a non-interested Class I Director of the Fund, and member of the Fund's Audit Committee and Governance and Nominating Committee, to serve until the Fund's 2019 Annual Meeting of Stockholders or until his successor is duly elected and qualified.
Mr. Dayan is the President and owner of Cactus Trading, an importer and exporter of clothing and accessories. He serves as a board member of Putnam High Income Securities Fund, and previously served on the board of directors of Emergent Capital, Inc. Previously, Mr. Dayan served for 10 years as Chief Financial Officer of Biltmore Textiles, and was an auditor for an independent registered public accounting firm. The Board has concluded that Mr. Dayan satisfies the Fund's director qualification standards in light of his tenure as a senior executive officer of various industrial businesses, and that he does not have any conflicts of interest that would preclude him from serving as a Class I Director of the Fund.
