Rite Aid January Comps, Sales Rise - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Rite Aid Corp. (RAD) Thursday said that for the four weeks ended January 24, same store sales increased 4.8 percent over the prior-year period.

January front-end same store sales increased 2.9 percent. Pharmacy same store sales, which included an approximate 114 basis points negative impact from new generic introductions, increased 5.7 percent. Prescription count at comparable stores increased 3.5 percent over the prior-year period.

Total drugstore sales for the four-week period increased 4.3 percent to $2.026 billion from $1.943 billion for the same period last year.

Prescription sales accounted for 70.3 percent of drugstore sales, and third party prescription sales represented 97.3 percent of pharmacy sales.
