Rite Aid Aug. Same-Store Sales Up 1.1% - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Retail drugstore chain operator Rite Aid Corp. (RAD) announced a 1.1 percent improvement in August same-store sales, compared with last year.

However, front-end same store sales slid 1.7 percent, whereas pharmacy same-store sales, that included an approximate 161 basis points negative impact from new generic introductions, went up by 2.5 percent. On the other hand, prescription count at comparable stores decreased 0.2 percent year-over-year.

Five-week total drugstore sales grew 1.1 percent to $2.425 billion from $2.4 billion a year ago. Prescription sales attributed 68.4 percent of drugstore sales, and third party prescription sales represented 97.1 percent of pharmacy sales, the company added.
