Report: Amazon Wants To Squash Spotify

(RTTNews) - Amazon's Chief Jeff Bezos is prepping up an online music streaming service touted to be a Spotify-killer.

According to a report from the New York Post, Amazon plans to launch the music streaming service this fall. Although, Amazon already offers about a million tracks through its Prime Music service, it is really tiny considering Spotify's library of 30 million tracks.

The report suggests that Amazon will charge $10 a month, but will offer a $3 or $4 discount for Echo owners. Both Apple and Spotify currently offer their music service at $9.99 a month, with Spotify customers also getting a free ad-supported version as well.

However, the plan is still in its early stages as Amazon is in talks with music executives about licensing a larger selection of music.
