Old Republic International Turns To Profit In Q4 - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Old Republic International Corp. (ORI) reported that its fourth-quarter net income was $94.7 million or $0.33 per share, compared to a net loss of $20.2 million or $0.08 per share in the same quarter last year.

Net operating income was $0.33 per share, compared to net operating loss of $0.09 last year. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.20 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Consolidated operating results for the fourth quarter of 2013 was marked by improved underwriting performance in most of Old Republic's active and run-off operations.

Net premiums and fees earned for the quarter was $1.225 billion, up from $1.170 billion in the prior year.

Total revenues for the quarter increased to $1.332 billion from $1.283 billion in the prior year quarter. Two analysts had consensus revenue estimate of $1.33 billion for the quarter.
