MoneyGram Turns To Profit In Q1 - Quick Facts
(RTTNews) - Money transfer and payment services firm MoneyGram (MDI) Tuesday reported earnings for the first quarter compared with loss last year.
For the first quarter, the company reported a profit of $39 million or $0.54 per share, compared with a loss of $12.6 million or $0.18 per share a year ago.
Excluding certain items, earnings per share were $0.37.
On average, 9 analysts polled by Thomson-Reuters estimated the company's earnings to be $0.33 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.
Adjusted EBITDA stood at $77.9 million for the period, higher than $72.3 million a year earlier.
Revenue for the 3-month period rose to $374.9 million from $340.5 million in the same period last year. Analysts expected revenues of $371.96 million.
Money transfer revenue grew by 11 percent to $326.1 million. Money transfer transactions rose by 12 percent.
