MannKind Q2 Loss Widens - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - MannKind Corp. (MNKD) reported that its net loss applicable to common stockholders for the second quarter of 2014 widened to $73.4 million or $0.19 per share, from $46.1 million or $0.16 per share in the second quarter of 2013. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report a loss of $0.12 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Quarterly total operating expenses were $69.8 million, compared to $41.6 million last year, an increase of $28.2 million, largely due to an increase in non-cash stock compensation expense of $30.5 million. In the second quarter of 2014, the settlement terms for certain performance-based awards were modified requiring reclassification of these performance grants from equity awards to liability awards and resulting in incremental stock-based compensation expense.

The company did not generate revenue for the both latest and prior year periods.
