Helsinki City Hospitals Will Be Equipped with an Ascom Health Care Communication Solution
The City of Helsinki is renewing and enlarging the Malmi and Laakso Hospitals with a comprehensive Ascom solution integrating various alarm devices. The two institutions are among the largest hospitals and health care centers in Finland with about 60.000 patients per year.
The Ascom solution consists of four parts including Ascom Miratel’s nurse call system and mobility solution for 156 patient beds. IP based Ascom DECT phones Protectors will enhance and improve staff safety in the hospital. The hospital’s fire alarm system will also be fully integrated into the nurse call system with Ascom’s middleware platform "Unite Connectivity Manager”.
The Ascom Multiple Medical Alarm (MMA) module provides for the simple integration and connection of up to four separate medical devices into an Ascom teleCARE IP nurse call system. 55 Ascom MMA modules will secure the patient safety in operation and isolation rooms in the two hospitals. Whether used next to a patient’s bed in a general hospital or an ICU room, the Ascom Multiple Medical Alarm module is an effective solution for managing medical devices and their alarms. The MMA module has been designed to conform to the MDD (Medical Device Directive) and other applicable regulations in EU and EFTA.
"Ascom Miratel - which we acquired in 2011 - is a market leader in nurse call, mobility and safety solutions in Finland. This important order is not only built on the enhanced functions and systems, but also on the long lasting customer relationship and the deep understanding of the customer needs” says Claes Ödman, General Manager Ascom Wireless Solutions.
