Customers Disgusted With Cable Companies

(RTTNews) - Internet service providers and subscription TV services companies, including cable and satellite TV, continue to disappoint with their services, according to a study conducted by the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI).

According to the study compiled by surveying over 14,000 customers covering 43 industries, customers' satisfaction with subscription TV services dropped 3.1 percent to a benchmark score of 63 out of 100.

According to ACSI, the decline was largely due to poor customer service and higher prices. The lowest score in the survey were reported by Time Warner Cable and Mediacom Communications, with a score of 51 out of 100. Comcast dropped 10 percent from last year to score of 54.

Internet service providers also scored a poor score of 63, with customers being dissatisfied with lack of choice for service providers, unreliable service, slow broadband speeds and higher prices.

AT&T U-verse rose 6 percent to score 69 from last year to take the lead from Verizon Communications FiOS, which dropped 4 percent to 68. Comcast remained at thew last place with a score of 56.

Customer satisfaction with wireless telephone companies also dropped 2.8 percent from a year ago to an ASCI benchmark score of 70, as customers continue to complain about poor call quality, weak data transmission speeds and absence of any improvements in voice and data plans.

TracFone Wireless topped the list with a score of 77, above Verizon's 71. T-Mobile and AT&T Mobility improved the score to 70, while Sprint dropped four percent to 65.
