Advance Auto Parts Names Derrick Thomas Senior Vice President, Operations - Southeast

Advance Auto Parts, Inc., (NYSE:AAP), a leading automotive aftermarket retailer of parts, batteries, accessories, and maintenance items, today announced Derrick Thomas will join the company as Senior Vice President, Operations – Southeast effective May 27, 2008. Mr. Thomas will be responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to the Southeast Team, which covers approximately 800 stores. Mr. Thomas will report to Ken Wirth, Senior Vice President, Customer Experience Officer. "Derrick has a passion for providing superior customer experiences and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge leading a retail sales force. We look forward to his leadership to drive our continued retail and commercial growth,” said Wirth. Prior to joining Advance, Mr. Thomas most recently served as the President and CEO of Emerging Market Restaurant Group. Prior to that position, he served as Regional Vice President for Starbucks where he was responsible for over 500 stores in a multi-state region. Mr. Thomas has a Bachelors’ of Science in Business Management and Finance from Wayne State University.
